FDS was established by Paul Westwood OAM in 1984 and has grown to be the largest private independent forensic handwriting and questioned document laboratory in at least the southern hemisphere.
The firm has six examiners with a cumulative experience in the field of handwriting and questioned document examination in excess of 80 years.
FDS services clients in the government and private sectors, both nationally and internationally. We undertake work in both the criminal and civil jurisdictions for the plaintiff/prosecution and the defence, often as the single expert.

Forensic Digital Services has been dedicated to computer forensics and forensic IT - the scientific examination of computers and digital devices since 2003.
Forensic Digital Services provides a high level of professionalism, quality and skill for which it is renowned.
Our core areas of expertise in forensic IT include examination and analysis of computers (computer forensics), mobile devices, mobile phones and other digital devices, conversion and recovery of data, password recovery and electronic discovery.

The range of services include:
- Development of latent fingermark deposits using physical, chemical and lighting techniques on various substrates (objects).
- Comparison between developed latent prints and known fingerprint samples.
- Ink fingerprinting (known samples).
- Training the handling and packaging of exhibits for fingerprint development.
- Delivering lectures on the history of fingerprints, development techniques, enhancement, recording and reporting.
